I co founded Prospero Partners in 2007 with Wilder Gutterson. After ten fantastic years together, Wilder went on to a new career as a therapist. I held the fort down at Prospero, focussing on what I love best: writing and teaching, mostly for larger cultural organisations and universities.

Now it’s time for me to move on too (although not, you may be glad to hear, as a therapist).

As of May 31st, 2021, I will be taking no further clients through Prospero Partners, though I’ll continue to work with current clients. I’ll always love hearing from the many brilliant and big-hearted people I’ve met through Prospero, too, so I’ll keep this website and email live for another year. I especially hope to remain involved with the creative sector, which is so embattled right now and brings so much meaning and joy to us all. I’m a trustee of Wayward Productions and I love having — literally — a front-row seat for their great work.

I can look back now over more than thirty years as a fundraiser and charity consultant. There were days (there were years, actually) when I wondered what on earth I was doing. It wasn’t what I thought I was going to do. It wasn’t what I wanted to do. But it was what needed doing, and now to my surprise I find I’m glad and grateful.

Charities and universities are home to the best work and the best people on the planet. They’re where we cure illness and heal broken hearts, make great art, look after the poor and homeless, take a stand against all manner of evil, and try to save the environment from ourselves. If I’ve done none of these things myself, it’s a comfort to know that you — my colleagues and friends and clients – have done all this and more besides. Thank you for letting me work with you, and never, ever give up.
